Last night was the Met Costume Institute Gala – THE red carpet event to show off your couture duds. So, how did the curvy ladies do?
I have not found too many pictures of ACTUAL plus size women on last night’s red carpet so we will have to check out the looks of the curviest, starting with Oprah in Oscar.![]()
This dress was a beautiful color, flattered her figure (OMG her waist is TINY!!!) and was one of the evening’s stand out styles. Some bloggers have called this frumpy but I don’t think you have to show tons of skin to be stylish. I call this look lovely. She was truly a “grande dame“!
Oh – Padma, I love you but girl, this dress is all sorts of wrong. First, the feathers at the bust are very vegas, Second, that dress doesn’t fit. Third, the color is horrrrrible on you. All and all – it is a NO. Padma, you just had a kid AND you eat for a living. You are curvy and we love you for it. Buy a dress that fits.
Alright, let’s start with the good on this L’Wren Scott. The color is stunning on Christina and the cut is beautiful. I don’t even hate the feather thing on her shoulder – it adds some real interest to the dress and kind of ties in her red hair. What I do hate is the binding job they did on her bust. That just looks painful!!!! How did they stuff them into a dress so small?? Ouch. I think her beautiful, natural bust would have looked so much better if they had put her in a larger size gown and then took in the rest of it to fit her body. I have the same problem that she does. My waist and hips are much smaller than my bust so I am always having dresses taken in to make sure my girls have room to be shown in all their glory.
What did you love/hate on curvy women at the Met Costume Institute Gala?
